Jesus said no man can serve two masters. You cannot live a worldly life and a godly life at the same time - satisfying your worldly habits, desires and ambitions, and also fulfilling the immortal destiny of your own God Presence. Since the goal of life which you elected for yourself at inner levels is the Ascension, you must decide to follow this Path 100% and make it your whole life, surrendering your human ego in the process. Your reward will be your eternal union with your own God Self. The Ascended Masters want you to know that if you are courageous enough to surrender your not-self into the flame and to let go of worldly desires, you will find a much happier and richer enjoyment in life and a greater Peace than you ever thought possible.
